Health Literacy
As October marked Health Literacy Month, we think it’s the perfect time to share the importance of understanding health information and provide you with tools, resources, and expert advice to improve your health literacy.
To tell us more about health literacy we welcome Dr. Lisa Yazel. Dr. Yazel is a Community Health Improvement Manager at Franciscan Health. Dr. Yazel has a doctorate in health education and over 20 years of experience in community and public health. She is a Master Certified Health Education Specialist whose research focuses on the health education workforce and advocacy for public health initiatives.
We’re also joined by Dr. Carolyn Shue. Dr. Shue is a communications professor at Ball State and currently serves as the department chair in communication studies. Her research centers on low health literacy and patient-physician communication.
